Address (Location)
Learn about Stable's Address model.
What an address is
An address is a real street address where Stable can receive physical mail. In the API, an address may also be referred to as a Location given its different types.
The type field of a Location distinguishes between these types of address:
cmra: a real street address used to receive routine business mail.registeredAgent: a Registered Agent service in a single state. Stable can act as registered agent for your business entity and receives official notices at this address.
Learn how to choose the right type for your use case in Address Types.
The address object
See Locations for the full listing of the object. See Address Lifecycle to understand the different states addresses can be in.
Address authorization
CMRA addresses created via the API or Dashboard can be used immediately once they're created. However, before Stable can open and scan mail items received at the address, Address Authorization (USPS Form 1583) must be completed by an authorized person or an officer of the receiving business.
Registered Agent addresses do not require this step. However, they require a Change of Agent to be filed in order to be correctly registered with the state. This can also be completed programmatically using the Filings API. Learn more in: Registered Agent Addresses.
